Varsity Boys Soccer (7-0-1)
Marquette 9, Iron Mountain 1
The MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer Team battled the Iron Mountain Mountaineers on a cold and wet Thursday evening. Marquette followed-up the 1-1 draw from the first meeting between the two teams by defeating Iron Mountain 9-1 in a mercy rule shortened win with 10 minutes to play.
Sophomore Nick Asmus lead the way with 4 goals. Senior Connor Johnson added 2 goals while junior Nick Lindberg and sophomores Ezra Pickard and Max Dawson each had one goal apiece. Lindberg also had 3 assists on the evening while junior Axel Vermaat chipped in with 2 assists in the contest.
Senior Liam Jeevar faced 4 shots in net.
From Head Coach Dan Salmon:
“We had this game circled on the calendar after tying them in the season opener 1-1. We felt the score of that game didn’t reflect who we were as a team. Tonight’s score does.”
