Varsity Volleyball Begins 2022 Schedule At Sault Ste. Marie Invitational

The MSHS Varsity Volleyball team began the 2022 season when they traveled to Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday (8/20/22) to compete in the Sault Invitational.  The team finished the day with a record of 1-2-1.

Pool Play Results:

  • Marquette 0, Sault Ste. Marie 2 (15-25, 18-25)
  • Marquette 2, Rogers City 0 (25-17, 27-25)
  • Marquette 1, Alpena 1 (25-27, 25-21)

Bracket Play Quarterfinals:

  • Marquette 0, Houghton 2 (25-27, 14-25)

From MSHS Head Coach, Ann Crandell-Williams:

  • “We have a really young team this year in terms of varsity experience, and all in all they had a good day with lots of growth.  We served consistently, played strong defense and ran a good middle attack.  We dropped a couple of tight sets with strong teams, which doesn’t show with our win/loss record.  We learned a lot about things we want to continue to work on.  It was a great opportunity to assess the teams we will be seeing in districts this year.  We left the day encouraged that we can make an impact this season if we keep working hard.”

Next Up:

  • MSHS will host Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday, August 24, for a traditional format match-up.  Start time for the JV and Freshman matches is 5:30 p.m., with the varsity match to follow at 7:00 p.m.
