Varsity Volleyball Rallies Past Sault Ste. Marie, 3-1

Varsity Volleyball (4-3; 0-0 Great Northern Conference)

Marquette 3, Sault Ste. Marie 1 (19-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-21)

From Coach Crandell-Williams:

“Sometimes it’s hard to see whether the things we are practicing are coming to light, but tonight these athletes showed everything they’ve been working on. I’m most happy with their defensive intensity and their ability to stay mentally tough through the ups and downs of the match. It felt like most of the night there was only a 2-3 point swing in the score, and they worked hard at keeping their heads and playing their own game.

Jaylee Dellies put up an outstanding defensive performance tonight, which really contributed to this win. I’m also proud of Alyson McCarthy and Jess Gooch for consistently connecting in the middle. All around, a great team performance and I’m loving watching them grow. I feel like they have even more to bring this season and I’m excited for it!”
