Varsity Volleyball Takes First at Great Northern Conference Tournament

10/19/19 – Great Northern Conference Tournament (Gladstone, MI)

Pool Play:

  • Marquette 2, Gladstone 0 (25-16, 25-12)
  • Marquette 1, Escanaba 1 (21-25, 25-14)
  • Marquette 2, Kingsford 0 (26-24, 25-20)
  • Marquette 2, Menominee 0 (25-12, 25-6)

Semifinals:

  • Marquette 2, Menominee 0 (25-12, 25-12)

Finals:

  • Marquette 2, Escanaba 0 (25-18, 25-23)

From Coach Crandell-Williams:

“Today was a really competitive day of volleyball and we’re lucky that we are a part of the GNC conference.  At the beginning of the day we were a bit slow to get in the groove, and we weren’t covering the floor as well as we can, but that improved as the day went on. We served consistently, kept swinging and pushed through several tight games. I’m really proud of them and the day we had.”

Next Up:

All three MSHS volleyball teams will be back in action on Tuesday, October 22, when they host Gladstone (Varsity/JV) and Negaunee (Freshman) for Parents Night and Senior Night.  Match times are 5:30 p.m. for Frosh/JV and 7:00 p.m. for Varsity.
