2021-22 BCAM All-State Girls Basketball Awards Announced

The Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) have released their All-State Teams for the 2021-22 season, as well as honorees from across the state for several other year-end award categories.  The MSHS Varsity Girls Basketball Team was honored for their academic success, along with five student-athletes.

The Marquette Varsity Girls Basketball Team was named as an Academic All-State program as a result of its average GPA of 3.88.

MSHS senior Maria Millado earned All-State Honorable Mention accolades after a stellar season that also her named to the All-Upper Peninsula First Team and as the Great Northern Conference’s Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.  Millado was also selected as an Individual Academic All-State Honoree as a result of her 4.25 cumulative GPA.

Seniors Ella Jezewski, Maria Millado, Halle Paternoster and Zoe Smith were honored with the BCAM Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award.  Each are four-year members of the MSHS Girls Basketball program and own a cumulative GPA over 3.80.

Junior Lexi Smith was selected to receive the BCAM “Team First” Award.  The “Team First” Award is given to one member per varsity team who is chosen by their BCAM Member Coach.  This team member is be the person that most exemplifies putting team before self, teamwork, commitment, service and sacrifice.
