  • Why Bella Chose NMUI chose to continue my education and soccer career at Northern Michigan University because Coach Jon Sandoval is building a great team and program.  After talking with him and getting to know him, he was the coach I connected with more than any other college coach.  I think his personality and coaching style fits best with me as a player and person.New Assistant Coach Laura Wayland also had an impact on my decision.  I think she and Coach Sandoval work well together and will continue to keep growing a phenomenal team.  Coach Wayland was also my Coach for many years and having her again will be amazing.  NMU also has a Pre-Physician Assistant Program which is the career that I want to pursue in the future.  In addition, after being away from my family to play soccer in Wisconsin I learned that I want to be by my family a little longer, so going to Northern will allow me to do so.   I am very excited to play soccer at Northern Michigan University for the next 4 years! Go Cats!”

  • Why Sydney Chose NMU“I chose Northern Michigan to further continue my education and pursue my soccer career, due to their outstanding program!  I instantly clicked with Head Coach Jon Sandoval, as he strives to do what’s best for his soccer program.  Coach Sandoval’s playing style and ideas to continue to grow the program are a perfect fit for my talents.  Assistant Coach Laura Wayland has had a tremendous impact on my success since she has been my coach for numerous years.  She is the nicest person I have ever met, always pushing me to do my best.  Coach Laura is my role model!  Northern Michigan is widely known for its strong science programs, which is why I am choosing to pursue biology as it leaves many opportunities for my future career.  Going to Northern also allows me to stay close to home, where I can continue to be close with my family.  I am beyond grateful to have this amazing opportunity of playing for Northern Michigan, I am SO excited for the next 4 years!
