Dan Salmon Tabbed As Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach

Marquette Senior High School has named Dan Salmon as its new Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach. He brings with him 14 years of coaching experience within the Superiorland Soccer Association (SSA) travel and recreational soccer system.  In addition, Salmon previously spent one year as an assistant coach within the MSHS Boys Soccer program.

“We are thrilled to have Dan join our athletics program and lead our boys soccer program.  His passion for the sport and vision to enhance the MSHS soccer experience was evident throughout the interview process” said Marquette Athletic Director Alex Tiseo. “His energy and desire to positively impact our student-athletes on and off the field are easy to see.  These characteristics, along with his sound character, will no doubt allow him to be successful in this position.”

Salmon takes over a highly accomplished boys soccer program that finished 12-5-1 in 2019 and capped its season by winning its 12th consecutive U.P. Championship.

Dan Menze previously served as Varsity Boys Soccer Head Coach and made countless contributions to both MSHS and its students during his tenure.

In accepting the position, Salmon said, ““I look forward to picking up where coach Dan Menze left off and continuing the winning tradition of MSHS Boys Soccer.  Marquette has plenty of good youth soccer talent and I am excited to be part of it at MSHS.”

To round out the program, John Balmat has been appointed to serve as JV1 Head Coach with Andrew Johnson continuing to lead the JV2 squad.

MSHS Boys Soccer tryouts are currently scheduled for August 12-14 at the Kaufman Sports Complex (time TBD).  Final details will be posted to www.mshsathletics.com as soon as they become known.
