MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer (3-2)

Marquette 3, Boyne City 1

The MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer Team hosted Boyne City this afternoon (8/23/22) at the Kaufman Sports Complex.

Senior captain Ezra Pickard got the scoring started in the first half off assists coming from Max Dawson and Kaleb Chipelewski.

Goaltender Edan Hautamaki made four saves in the first half for a 1-0 lead in favor of MSHS at the break.

Shortly into the second half, Chipelewski then found the back of the net after a nice pass from Pickard to double the lead for MSHS.

Pickard then notched his second goal of the contest with Dawson assisting for a 3-0 Redmen advantage.

Boyne City was able to get on the board with a goal coming with roughly 15 minutes to go in the game.  Hautamaki turned away all remaining shots from there to solidify the 3-1 final score.

From MSHS Head Coach, Dan Salmon:

  • “Boyne City pushed us hard and made us really battle for the win tonight.  We lost some momentum in the first half but quickly regained it in the second half. A very good team effort tonight.”
