Varsity Boys Soccer (7-5-1)

The MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated the Iron Mountain Mountaineers 6-0 in home action Tuesday night in Marquette.

The scoring got started when Max Dawson capitalized from a Nick Asmus pass. Dawson made it 2-0 off a combination pass from Trevor Salmon and Nick Lindberg.

After halftime, Salmon found the net off a pass from Axel Vermaat making it 3-0.  Connor Johnson then blasted in a feed from Dawson before Lindberg scored on a Salmon and Asmus pass combination. The final goal came from Eli Wiitala assisted by Mack Vezina.

Harrison Anthos faced three first half shots in net and none in the second half behind the defense anchored by team captain Hunter Sides.

MSHS Assistant Coach Collin Lake said, “There are some games that as a coach you can’t help but smile, clap your hands, and jump for joy. Tonight was one of those games. Offensively we went with a couple new ideas that seemed to work wonderfully. Overall, everyone played a great game especially Nick Asmus. The support from the students, parents, and fans was electrifying tonight. Hopefully we get that same support Thursday night against a tough Kingsford team”
