Varsity Boys Soccer Defeats Petoskey 4-3 (9/6/19)

Varsity Boys Soccer (3-3-1)

The Marquette varsity boys soccer team defeated Petoskey 4–3 on Friday, 9/6/19 in Petoskey.

Marquette opened the scoring on a header from Trevor Salmon, which was assisted by Lewis Goff.  Connor Johnson then made it 2-0 in favor of MSHS on a goal assisted by Salmon.  Petoskey narrowed their deficit just before halftime with a goal to make the score 2-1 at the break.

In the second half, the Northmen then tied the game at two goals apiece just before Salmon found the back of the net again, this time assisted by Zane Phillips, to make the score 3-2 Marquette.

Petoskey had equalized the game again at 3-3 but MSHS continued to put the pressure on.  Then, with 7:00 to go in the game, Max Dawson scored the game winner with a goal assisted by Joe Lagrou.

Harrison Anthos got the win in goal with nine saves on the afternoon.
