Varsity Boys Soccer (5-0)

Marquette 2, Boyne City 0

The MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer team had its first home contest of the 2021 season when they hosted Boyne City High School at the Kaufman Sports Complex on Tuesday evening.  Marquette continued its strong start to the season by shutting out the Ramblers by a final score of 2-0.

Junior Max Dawson lead the way for MSHS by scoring both goals in the first half.  The first goal came just four minutes into the game off an Axel Vermaat pass.  Then, at the 32-minute mark, senior John Weber passed to Vermaat, who sent a pass to Dawson for the goal.

Senior Harrison Anthos tended net stopping eight shots in the game, including a penalty kick in the second half.

From MSHS Head Coach, Dan Salmon:

  • “We were good at times and sloppy at times. There is still plenty to work on. Harrison Anthos was really solid in net when we needed him and the defense bent but didn’t break.”
