Varsity Boys Soccer Victorious Over Sault Ste. Marie In Regular Season Finale, 5-1

The MSHS Varsity Boys Soccer Team traveled to Sault Ste Marie Wednesday night (10/6/21) for the regular season finale against the Blue Devils.

Ezra Pickard got the Redmen on the board first on a goal assisted by John Weber.  MSHS would take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.

Things picked up for Marquette in the second half when Enzo Stabile scored just 30 seconds into the second frame for a 2-0 lead.  Ethan Sandstrom provided the assist on Stabile’s goal.

Pickard then got his second tally of the night from a pass made by Kaleb Chipelewski.  The Soo cut the lead to 3-1 before Pickard completed a hat trick off of a Nick Lindberg pass.  Axel Vermaat then rounded out the scoring for a 5-1 win on a goal assisted by Pickard.

Harrison Anthos faced five shots in net.

  • “Ezra and Enzo were our bright spots tonight. It was a good tune up for the UP’s next week and still showed that we have work to do.”

Next Up:

  • The Varsity Boys Soccer team will now have some time to prepare for the U.P. Boys Soccer Championships that will be held at the Kaufman Sports Complex on Saturday, October 16.  Games will begin at 10:00 a.m.
