Varsity Girls Soccer Claims 2022 U.P. Tournament Championship

MSHS Varsity Girls Soccer (12-1-4)

The MSHS Varsity Girls Soccer team hosted the U.P. Girls Soccer Championships on Saturday, 5/21/22, at the Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette.  Teams competing in the tournament included Houghton, Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Marquette Varsity, Marquette JV and Sault Ste. Marie.

After defeating Houghton in semifinal contest by a score of 3-0, the team claimed the 2022 U.P. Championship by defeating rival Kingsford 2-1 in the event final.

Game 1 – Semifinal:  Marquette 3, Houghton 0

  • Lilly Eberhard got the goal scoring started with a marker assisted by Hannah Mason.
  • Lilly Eberhard added another goal that was unassisted.
  • Hattie Britton finished the scoring with an unassisted goal.

Game 2 – Championship:  Marquette 2, Kingsford 1

  • In the championship game, Lilly Eberhard again started the scoring off with a goal assisted by Hannah Mason.
  • Hannah Mason then added the eventual game-winner on an unassisted goal.
