Skiers Named Athletes of the Month

Congratulations to Joe Weber and Sadah Scheidt in being named Athletes of the Month for February.

The Female Athlete of the Month for February is Sadah Scheidt. Sadah has built quite an impressive ski resume despite only skiing for a short time on the MSHS Ski Team.

At the State Finals meet on February 29th, Sadah skied to a 16th place finish in the girls Giant Slalom, but it was in the Slalom event where Sadah really shined—taking home the gold medal in the event and winning the individual State Title. As a result, she also helped lead her team to a team state championship crown.

In the classroom, she is no slouch either, posting a 3.20 GPA and making the Honor Roll list in each semester thus far at MSHS. As only a sophomore, she will be continually expanding on her fine start to her educational resume.

In her free time, Sadah enjoys drawing and music and likes to get outside to play golf and ride her bike. She has also volunteered for vacation Bible school programs in the summer and as a Salvation Army bell ringer in the winter.

In the future, she plans on continuing to work in her family’s bakery during the summer months and skiing during the winter. She also hopes to volunteer at the Children’s Museum this summer. Her future is quite bright.

Our Male Athlete of the Month for February is Joe Weber. On the ski hill, Joe has compiled an amazing resume, amassing four team state championships in four years. This year, he won the individual state title in the Giant Slalom and was the runner up in the Slalom event. He was also an All-State selection this year as well as in 2015. This was also the fourth year in a row he has been named to the All Upper Peninsula Team.

In the classroom, Joe has earned the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and has been an Honor Roll student in every semester so far at MSHS. During this time, with the help of a large AP class load, Joe has amassed a GPA of 4.27.

As a well-rounded athlete, Joe has been a standout on the soccer field as well. As the team’s captain this year, he helped lead the Redmen to a UP Championship—his 3rd in the three years he’s been on the Varsity squad. This spring, Joe will be playing his fourth year of Varsity Tennis as well.

In addition to all of his, Joe plays intramural basketball and is part of the National Honor Society. This year, Joe is also the student council Vice President.

Next year, Joe will attend the University of Michigan to begin pursuing his degree, however, he is currently undecided as to what he plans on majoring in, but he does plan on joining their club ski team.
