Varsity Volleyball Claims Tournament Crown At 2021 Redette Rumble

Varsity Volleyball (21-5-1; 3-0 Great Northern Conference)

On Saturday (9/25/21), the MSHS Varsity Volleyball team hosted the Redette Rumble Tournament with nine total teams participating.  The team went 5-0 on the day and ultimately claimed the event championship.

Pool Play Results:

  • Marquette 2, Ironwood 0 (25-7, 25-18)
  • Marquette 2, Gwinn 0 (25-13, 25-14)
  • Marquette 2, Westwood 0 (25-7, 25-17)

Semifinals:

  • Marquette 2, Brimley 0 (25-16, 25-11)

Finals:

  • Marquette 2, Kingsford 0 (25-21, 25-15)

All-Tournament Team

During pool play, head coaches from each participating school were asked to nominate six student-athletes to be honored for their skill and hard work on the court.  Below are the six student-athletes named to the 2021 Redette Rumble All-Tournament Team:

From MSHS Head Coach, Ann Crandell-Williams:

  • “The team played consistent, solid volleyball all day today. I am especially proud of how aggressively they served. It was great for these seniors to win their home tournament so convincingly.”

JV’s Hanging Tough:

  • To help round out the tournament, the Marquette JV Volleyball team jumped into the mix and more than held their own on the day coming away with three total sets won, including a 2-0 win over the Menominee varsity team.

Next Up:

  • MSHS will stay at home to start next week when they host Gwinn on Tuesday, September 28.  Start time for the JV match is 5:30 p.m., with the varsity match to follow at 7:00 p.m.
