Varsity Volleyball (7-17-1; 2-3 Great Northern Conference)

The MSHS Varsity Volleyball Team traveled to Escanaba on Saturday (10/8/22) to compete in the Escanaba Elks Invitational.  The team finished the day with a record of 2-1.

Pool Play Results (three total sets played in each match):

• Marquette 2, Negaunee 1 (25-16, 25-19, 3-15)
• Marquette 2, Stephenson 1 (25-19, 18-25, 15-6)

Bracket Play Quarterfinals:

• BYE

Bracket Play Semifinals:

• Marquette 0, Escanaba 2 (18-25, 11-25)

From MSHS Head Coach, Ann Crandell-Williams:

• “Overall it was a very good day. Our players are serving well, passing more consistently all the time, and covering the floor better defensively. That sets them up offensively, and they are getting more powerful swings on the ball as we move through the season. It was fun to watch them fight their way through a really tight Stephenson match! This was a really big week of growth for this team and as always, I am proud of them.”

• MSHS will host Manistique on Thursday, October 13, for JV and Varsity match-ups.  Start time for the JV match is 5:30 p.m., with the Varsity match to follow at 7:00 p.m.
