Varsity Volleyball Begins 2021 With First Place Finish at Sault Invitational

The MSHS Varsity Volleyball team began the 2021 season in impressive fashion when they traveled to Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday (8/21/21) and captured first place at the Sault Invitational.  The team went 7-0 on the day and did not drop a single set en route to taking the event championship.

Pool Play Results:

  • Marquette 2, Inland Lakes 0 (25-23, 25-15)
  • Marquette 2, Sault Ste. Marie 0 (25-23, 25-9)
  • Marquette 2, Rogers City 0 (25-12, 25-16)
  • Marquette 2, Petoskey 0 (25-21, 25-14)
  • Marquette 2, Alpena 0 (25-11, 25-19)

Semifinals:

  • Marquette 2, Inland Lakes 0 (25-16, 25-11)

Finals:

  • Marquette 2, Petoskey 0 (25-18, 25-21)

  • “I’m very proud of the girls for their play today. Their serving was outstanding and passing was very strong for the first outing of the year. They really, really played well as a single unit.”

Next Up:

  • MSHS will travel back to the Soo on Tuesday, August 24, for a traditional format match-up.  Start time for the JV and Freshman matches is 5:30 p.m., with the varsity match to follow at 7:00 p.m.
