The MSHS Varsity Volleyball team continued their strong play on Saturday (9/9/23) when they competed in the Mitten Bay Classic Tournament that was hosted by Bay City Western High School.  After earning a 1-1-1 record through pool play, Marquette advanced to the event’s silver division bracket play where they rattled off three consecutive victories to win the division and finish the day with a 4-1-1 overall record.

From MSHS Head Coach, Ann Crandell-Williams:

  • “It’s been very rewarding to watch this team grow, both as a team and as individual players. They came out painfully flat in the first match against Bay City Western, but they picked it up in the second match against Garber and stayed with it for the rest of the day. This is such a well-rounded team and they showed it throughout the tournament. They are aggressive servers, solid passers, and are getting offensively smarter and tougher all the time. I was amazed at how well they covered the floor defensively. They were completely physically and mentally exhausted by the silver division finals, but they pushed through for the win because they are competitors. What I like best is their team chemistry in the way they support each other and celebrate each other’s great moments. We have a very busy next few weeks, and I’m excited to continue to see what they can do.”
